I love the organic nature of leaves decaying. This is more of a study of the leaves individually, but in alignment, so we can look at the colour, shape and the uniqueness of each one. This is what fascinates and inspires me to repeatedly paint fallen gum leaves.

Again I have painted trees because they are magnificent and I love how nature displays her beauty while we can see the cycle of life continue around us. These Angophoras have stripped their bark to reveal ghostly white trunk’s standing out against the surrounding green foliage. The ghostlike trees appear to be gathering in a group waiting to frighten the unsuspecting visitor to the forest.

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang. Signed on the front. This artwork comes with an external frame While observing these pebbles that were washed up on the beach, I realised how visually similar they were. Lots of grey and smooth edged rocks. But actually, once I started to paint them, I found the greys were different. The shapes varied and every so often there was a different coloured pebble. They were the same but different. It made me think how important it is that things, just like people have their differences. There is a balance in this, and this makes the painting interesting. Just like in life, we should embrace our differences. We can learn a lot from that.
