While travelling through NSW this Covid year I discovered how beautiful our own backyard is. We were staying on a farm just outside Orange in NSW. This sky appeared just as the sun was setting. It was extraordinary with the colours so strong it was almost unreal. But it was real!! Spectacular skies throughout this amazing country we call home, and I just had to capture them in paint on canvas. The canvas size gives the painting a panoramic perspective and would hang well in a corner space or above a piece of furniture. A little moody.

This painting of leaves is the 4th in a recent series. They have fallen from trees onto our urban streets and paths, walked on by the passerby . The leaves are decaying, but when that happens they take on such interesting colour and form. My eye finds the beauty in this and I want to paint them. This is a small painting, 30cms square. The colours are earthy and warming, perfect for an entrance or hallway, or a little corner nook.

Le Canard Sur l'Etang

Le Canard sur L’étang is French for The Duck on the Pond. This little bird was swimming on the pond in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris where I visited last year. The gardens are the place where Parisian families come to relax and enjoy their beautiful city. The pond is a draw card for visitors to sail model sailboats amongst the ducks and other bird life. This pretty duck caught my eye with its teal feathers and yellow bill. It was one of my favourite places in Paris and so I wanted to capture this in a zoomed in version of the duck on the pond. This is a small but bright oil painting that would lift a room with its colour.
