This painting draws on the childhood game Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, using a feather, stones, and dying leaves to explore categories of the natural world. I am drawn to organic forms, earthy colours, and tactile surfaces—materials that feel worn, weathered, and alive. These objects appear as if falling from above, returning to the earth from which they came, suggesting cycles of use, decay, and renewal.

Rock faces and coastal platforms are among nature’s most extraordinary artworks. In **Eroded**, I’ve created an abstract interpretation of a rock face that caught my eye along an East Coast surf beach. The intricate colours and textures of its weathered surface were captivating — a vivid reminder of the relentless forces of wind and surf that sculpt our coastline. Ever changing, never still, this painting reflects the timeless rhythm of natural erosion and transformation.*

Austalian coutryside is always inspiring. Here I have painted boulders lying as you see them here, balancing against each other, precarious but steadfast. This is the Granite Belt in southern Queensland, where these stark rock clusters are dotted along the roadside. I have used an illustrative style to emphasis their emormatiy in the landscape, sitting unencumbered, against the bright Australian sky and green hills and fields.
